AROUND THE FARM

Guests can enjoy the privacy of their own terrace and enclosed garden as well as walks directly from the cottage, through the farm and connecting footpaths. There is an abundance of wildlife with regular sightings of wild deer, house martins and swallows in the Summer months. In the early evening look out for the barn owl as it hunts for prey and on a clear night be dazzled by the incredible starlit skies where shooting stars (and Starlink satellites) are not uncommon. 

LOCAL VILLAGES

Eatonden Manor Farm is situated between the two picturesque villages of Ticehurst (2 miles) and Burwash (1 mile) where guests will find cafes, a local village shop, art gallery, butchers, chemist, zero waste shop and three local pubs. Burwash is also home to Bateman’s, a National Trust property and former home of Rudyard Kipling.

Within a couple of miles of the farm there is a bounty of local produce to be found with Pick Your Owns, farmers markets, farm shops and award-winning vineyards, distilleries and taprooms. 

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

Bewl Water, Bedgebury Pinetum and Darwell Forest are all within 10 minutes drive from The Hay Barn for beautiful walks and bike rides. For the young there are adventure playgrounds, Go Ape and an Aqua Park.

The area celebrates an significant number of historical properties including Sissinghurst Castle, Bodiam Castle, Charleston House, Farley Farm, Great Dixter and Pashley Manor.

NEARBY TOWNS AND BEACHES

Seaside trips to Hastings, Camber Sands, Bexhill, Folkstone and Brighton are all within easy reach for a day trip out. The historical towns of Tunbridge Wells and Rye offer independent shops, cafes and cobbled streets. 

NEARBY TRANSPORT

Three miles away is the station of Stonegate with direct trains to London (just over an hour) and Hastings. For the adventurous (with sturdy shoes) a shortcut to the station runs through the farm and footpath beyond which take approximately half and hour to walk.  

Gatwick Airport is a 1 hour drive and the Eurotunnel is 1 hour 15 mins by car.
